Village Development Centre (VDC) understands the profound impact that economic empowerment can have on the lives of women and their communities. With generous support from Right Sharing of World Resources (RSWR), USA, we initiated a transformative project aimed at uplifting 25 deserving women in Neerpalani village, Pudukkottai District. This venture, which began in earnest, has yielded remarkable results.
Diverse Income Generation Activities: We provided targeted support to these 25 women, offering them opportunities to engage in income generation activities that matched their skills and interests. This approach allowed us to tap into their potential and maximize their chances of success.
In alignment with our commitment to inclusivity, we ensured that the project encompassed a range of income generation activities. Ten women received grants to engage in pot making, another ten found support for coir rope work, while five women embarked on eachen koodai(akind of basket made with one of a plant)works. This diversity empowered each woman to pursue avenues that resonated with her strengths and aspirations.
To set the stage for success, we organized comprehensive orientation training sessions for all 25 beneficiaries. These sessions enabled them to internalize the project's objectives, goals, and activities, ensuring they were well-prepared for their income generation endeavours.
The grant disbursement meeting held on 5th and 6th February 2018 at Neerpalani village was a pivotal moment. Dr.Kannan, India Consultant for RSWR, and Mr.Purushothaman from RSWR, Tirupathi, graced the occasion with their presence. Their support and encouragement added a layer of motivation for the beneficiaries, instilling confidence in their ability to succeed.
The impact of this project has been nothing short of transformative. Today, the 25 women, once beneficiaries of this initiative, are now thriving entrepreneurs. On average, they earn a commendable Rs. 4400 per month through their income generation activities. This financial independence has not only improved their own quality of life but has also contributed to the economic vitality of their families and communities.
At VDC, we remain committed to empowering women and communities through initiatives that foster self-reliance, dignity, and prosperity. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Right Sharing of World Resources (RSWR), USA, for their unwavering support in making this project a resounding success.
