At Village Development Centre (VDC), we recognize the importance of holistic well-being. In 2009, we embarked on a journey to promote wellness through naturopathy and yoga, a program that continues to impact lives positively. Sponsored by the National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, this initiative aimed to educate and empower women in the Kuruvampatti region on the principles of naturopathy and the transformative practices of yoga.
Naturopathy, often referred to as a natural healing system, emphasizes the body's innate ability to heal itself. Dr.Sugumar from Jai Renga Naturopathy Hospital, Trichirappalli, provided valuable insights into naturopathy, helping participants understand the principles of this holistic approach to health and well-being.
Yoga is more than just physical exercise; it's a way of life that promotes mental and physical balance. Practical yoga sessions were conducted to provide hands-on experience and empower women with techniques to enhance their overall health and vitality.
The program witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 70 women from the Kuruvampatti region. This engagement fostered a sense of community and encouraged the sharing of knowledge and experiences.
As part of the program, a naturopathy food mela was organized, showcasing the importance of nutritious and natural foods in promoting health. Participants had the opportunity to learn about and savour wholesome foods that contribute to well-being.
This initiative aimed to empower women with the knowledge and skills to make informed choices regarding their health and well-being. It also encouraged the adoption of naturopathic practices and yoga as part of their daily lives.
At VDC, our commitment to community development extends beyond traditional boundaries. We believe that empowering individuals with the knowledge of holistic well-being can lead to healthier, happier, and more empowered communities. We are thankful for the support of the National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune, in helping us achieve this goal. Together, we continue to promote wellness and a healthier way of life for all.
