Village Development Centre (VDC) is committed to fostering economic independence among women in our communities. Through strategic partnerships with Rastriya Mahila Kosh (RMK), Canara Bank, Thirupanjeeli, and NABFINS Ltd, Bangalore, we have implemented a robust credit program that directly supports women self-help group members in their pursuit of income generation and self-employment opportunities.
The project aimed to empower women with a valuable skill that could provide economic opportunities and independence. Mat weaving not only preserves traditional craftsmanship but also serves as an income-generating avenue for these women.
At VDC, we firmly believe that economic empowerment is a cornerstone of gender equality and community development. Our program aims to provide women with the financial means to establish micro-enterprises, enhancing their self-reliance and income-generating potential.
Over the years, this initiative has witnessed remarkable success. We are proud to share that VDC has supported over 2800 women, with a cumulative financial assistance of Rs. 31+ crores. These women have channelled this support into diverse trades and businesses, contributing not only to their own livelihoods but also to the economic vitality of their communities.
The beneficiaries of our program have demonstrated remarkable entrepreneurial spirit by establishing various businesses, including petty shops, vessel renting services, mini hotels, cattle farms, milk vending, readymade garment production, door mat weaving, fish vending, vegetable vending, and even hotels and hallow block production.
At VDC, we hold the utmost respect for the women who have availed these credits. Their dedication and commitment to utilizing these loans for the betterment of their lives and communities are truly commendable. We honour and empower every woman who has not only utilized the loans wisely but also ensured timely repayment.
Through our income generation support program, we are creating a ripple effect of economic independence and empowerment among women in our communities. At VDC, we remain dedicated to providing opportunities for women to thrive as entrepreneurs, contributing to their families' well-being and the broader socio-economic development of our regions.
